Job Title: Occupational Health Advisor - Police Contract
Location: Home based
Salary: up to £46,000 per annum dependant on experience + benefits
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time or Part time - minimum 3 days per week

 

Role Summary

We are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor to join our comprehensive OH team. Working with our client, The Metropolitan Police Service, this will be a varied role which will involve undertaking workplace assessments and reporting on potential risks to health. You will also advise employees on both physical and mental health problems, all the while maintaining the highest standards of occupational healthcare.

Typically you will be completing 5-6 initial cases a day. Cases are usually 60 minutes but for complex cases and complex mental health cases we allow up to 90 minutes per appointment. 

At The Met Police, we run a fully tailored Occupational Health service with a multi-disciplinary team, who provide a wide range of services to MPS staff. This is a homebased remote position but you must be happy to travel to Lambeth, London 3 times a a year. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Organising and participation of pre-employment/re-deployment health assessments and health surveillance programmes for staff identified by risk assessment.
  • Reviewing and decision making on pre-Job Related Fitness Test questionnaires
  • To carry out telephone and face to face case management within Optima Health guidelines
  • Creation of new methods of working based on evidence based occupational health practise (and including the documentation thereof)
  • Taking part in the Duty Nurse on-call rota
  • Working on the various clinical mailboxes as and when required
  • Partaking in workshops aiming at improving overall processes, including administrative and IT related process flows
  • Visiting MPS sites to gain familiarity with their operations and impact/relevance to Optima's clinical advice and recommendations

 

Who Are We Looking For?

  • You will need to be a Registered General Nurse (RGN)
  • Have previous experience working in Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) position.
  • An occupational health qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • You will need to be a proactive, friendly and professional person who is confident managing their own workload.
